established itself as one of the region's most highly
respected Art Shows.
Taking place over the Mother's Day weekend at the Mirboo
North Shire Hall, the show features the work of artists
principally from the Gippsland region. The quality and
diversity of the work on display is reflective of the talent
that resides in our community - representing a spectrum of
contemporary and traditional influences in the 2D and 3D
pieces on exhibit.
Our major prize, Best Exhibit, is sponsored by International
Power, the winner receiving $1,500.
In 2007 the Show introduced The Best Young Artists Award.
Sponsored by International Power the Award was created in
memoriam of our 2006 Best Exhibit Award winner Melanie Johnston
and aims to encourage young people to express themselves through
artistic endeavours.
Our Friday night Opening is a great opportunity to both view
and buy from the 300 plus pieces being exhibited and is, not
coincidentally, an exhilarating and entertaining evening.
The show opens to the public on the Saturday and Sunday.
A complimentary Mother's Day Afternoon tea takes place on
Sunday from 2pm.
The Art Show is the Mirboo North Primary School's principal
annual fundraiser and would not be possible without the
assistance of our volunteers, sponsors and the support of local
businesses, many of whom have been with us for many years.
