Situated on the panoramic Grand Ridge Road which winds its
way through the beautiful Strzelecki Ranges, Mirboo North
is an historic and picturesque township and is well worth
a visit.
The Mirboo North area was first explored by Paul Strzelecki
in 1840, but it was not until the 1880's that settlers in
search of new land moved into the area. Timber cutting was
the first major industry but was soon replaced by dairy
farming. Today, dairy farming and forestry still play a
significant part in the local economy, supplemented by a
burgeoning tourism industry.
